He worked at Fedmis and Foskor and joined Sasol in 1980 as Production Manager of Sasol Three. After various positions, he was promoted to Executive Director of Sasol Ltd. He also served as Mayor of Phalaborwa and Secunda, Chairman of Birdlife S. A., and Councilor of The University of the Free State.
